About Jesse

Meet Jesse Knight

Hello, my name is Jesse Knight, and I am running for the Republican seat for Coffey County Commissioner.

I have been married to my wife, Tracey Knight, for 26 years. Together, we have two children, Sydney (27) and Colby (23), and two grandchildren, Ellie and Brantley, both 2 years old.

My family has a long-standing farming background right here in Coffey County. We have been part of the Lebo area for many generations.

Jesse's Kansas Roots

Jesse was born and raised in Kansas.

Growing up, I attended Lebo Elementary and Lebo High School, graduating in the spring of 1992.

In the spring of 1991, I joined the Coffey County Fire District #6 Volunteer Fire Department and served for over 20 years. After graduating in the spring of 1992, I spent the summer working at the Safeway Dog Food Plant in Emporia, Kansas.

In the fall of 1992, I started my own trucking business, Jesse Knight Trucking, which I operated until 1995.

My father, Terry Knight, and my brother, Jeff Knight, also had two semis and were involved in trucking. In 1995, the three of us decided to merge and establish Knight Trucking LLC.

Since the beginning of our merger, we have grown to over 35 trucks and trailers, and we have also formed Knight Brokerage and Knight Land LLC.

These milestones would not have been possible without the hard work of all three of our families and our loyal employees.

Jesse's Qualifications

Why Jesse for Coffey County Commissioner?

I have operated our businesses by being a leader, not a boss. If you elect me as your Coffey County Commissioner I will:

  • Do my best to make wise choices and use common sense for the greater good of our county.
  • I will stand for the choices that I believe are the best choices for our county as well as considering the views of our residents.
  • I will use the same tactics I use to run our business when making choices for the county.
  • I understand not everyone will always like some of the decisions that I make, but I will strive to always do what is best for the future of our great county, by standing up for my beliefs.
  • Coffey County is a thriving county and I want to make sure it continues to be, now and in the future.
  • Together with you, I believe we can make sure Coffey County is always a great county, to live in and grow in.

I am Jesse Knight, and I approve this message.

In the last 3.5 years, I have introduced and supported a total of six resolutions to protect our county and the rights of our county residents, all of which passed unanimously.
